EMDR is an evidenced-based approach to therapy grounded in neuroscience and a highly effective trauma treatment. It is different than traditional talk therapy in that it incorporates how the body remembers the distressing experience along with negative beliefs/feelings. EMDR could be helpful for you if you’ve ever had the experience of “I know in my head that it’s not true, but it still FEELS true…”
This type of therapy is transformative for situations where a past memory, belief or feeling continues to get in the way of how a person experiences life now. Sometimes, no matter how much a person wants to move forward, the past continues to show up and gets in the way of living the life you want.
“The past affects the present even without our being aware of it.”
― Dr. Francine Shapiro, Originator and Developer of EMDR
